Instructions for Sept 17

Greetings!

Today we will be finishing up the blogger protocols.

Blogger words We'll be using

- Dashboard: That is interface or window where you can edit your blog, create posts, etc. It's plained colored

Blog View: This is how everyone will see your blog. You can access this by clicking "View Blog" in the top left corner of your Dashboard View.

I highly recommend everyone bookmark your Dashboard and Blog View, as well as my Blogs.

Objectives
1st Get everyone following my blogs
2nd Everyone send me your blog URLs
3rd Have my blogs show up on your "reading list"
4th Adjust Privacy settings

1st Task
Following my Blog
Click here, and follow the instructions.

2nd Make sure everyone sends me their Blog View URL
To do so, go to your Blog View. Click the Web Address (you may have to press Ctrl and A). Then copy your address (Ctrl C) and paste it in the email you sent me yesterday (Ctrl V) Do not send me a new email.

3rd Task
As students send me their URLs I will update the classmates' link list. Click the links and follow your classmates' blogs using the same steps from 1st.

Check your "Reading List" on the lower left-hand side. It should reflect all the available blogs.

4th Task
Go to settings.
Basic is where you can change the title of your blog, and the URL. Please note, if you change the URL you must notify me and send the updated URL
In Basic, go to Privacy. Click No to both "Add your blog to our listings?" and "Let search engines find your blog?"

Once everyone's blog is posted, you will eventually limit your readers to those of us in the class.
You will do this by going to Settings, Basic, Blog Readers, and you will click "Private - Only These readers." You will have to copy the links into the drop box after clicking "+Add Readers"

Sometime next week we will go through "Posts, comments and sharing", "Email" etc.

After you follow all of these steps you can complete any posts you haven't completed yet.
If you are all caught up, I want you to edit your blog. Make it as personal and unique looking as possible. Make it your own!
